The Venue
USC Horses At Work offers a number of competitions each year. In 2016 we were pleased to offer a total of five schooling competitions throughout the season. In 2017, Year End Championships were added. Beginning in 2016, the Hunter Jumper Competitions have been sanctioned as Scotia Series Competitions, a program of the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation.
These development series continue to be offered, designed to develop riders and horses at all ages, providing a safe, enjoyable environment to develop the skills and experience necessary to be successful at a higher level of competition. Competitions are kept as realistically affordable as possible for all contestants but the creation of a high quality level of show ring conditions is an important element at Horses At Work. Continual maintenance and introduction of jump equipment, the beauty of real flowers and trees decorating well designed courses, and a schedule of events that begin at 9 AM and are completed by suppertime lends a positive environment for all. The series provides a valuable training ground as well for aspiring judges wishing to gain experience before going for national certification.
Equine Canada Gold Competitions were held in 2011 and 2012. Although no plans for hosting one in the immediate future, we continue to focus on our schooling competitions hunter/jumper and occasional dressage.
Spectators are encouraged and welcome to "come spend a day in the country".
In 2018, a full size dressage ring was purchased and dressage clinics and competitions are in the future.
NEWS FLASH JUNE 2019 - A third sand ring presently in construction to provide a full time location for dressage ring setup. Coaches are welcome to contact us regarding ring rental time in any of our rings.
Hunter Derby Nights where riders, horses, and coaches come for an evening of schooling, a little fun, and a barbecue are slated to return in 2019.
When not used for competitions, the private property is home for an active show stable and training facility that is also steadily expanding.
